nabad the firts incubator and largest social entrepreneurship competition in Lebanon & the Middle East,  recognized 15 winners of the nabad 2013 national competition for their innovations in adressing social problems. The ceremony was held on the 27th of February 2014 at the Hilton Metropolitan Hotel in Sin El Fil, Beirut under the auspices of U.S. Ambassador David Hale.

Established by arcenciel, nabad is an initiative in collaboration with the consulting firm Beyond Reform and Development (BRD), PACE (Promoting Active Citizen Engagement Program) and the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

A need
nabad was born to meet the needs of a certain context; Lebanese NGOs are usually dependent on donors and have little generating projects of sustainable funding. The private sector, however with his know-how and experience, is mainly motivated to increase its profits and is reluctant to encourage young entrepreneurs. All this happens in a social-economic context sprinkled with problems and it’s always vulnerable and marginalized groups that feel it the most.

Social entrepreneurship
Social entrepreneurship fills the gap through supporting and generating profits while serving a cause. The social enterprise incubator creates the opportunity to support and generate profits while serving a cause accessible to everyone.
