Solidarity with Syrian refugees and Lebanese host communities
Lebanon is hosting more than one million of Syrian refugees who fled war in their country. They came to seek refuge in Lebanon where they live in precarious conditions.
For 3 years, arcenciel’s activities towards the Syrian refugees have grown 20 times, as well as the needs. Since the beginning of the crisis, we’ve served more than 27,000 Syrian refugees.
About us
arcenciel has been working since 1985 for the sustainable development of society " with and for people in need, without discrimination as to religion, community or politics". The association's activities extends to France and the Middle East.
arcenciel launched in 1987-1988 its first emergency intervention; the "food bagging operation". The year 1996 witnessed arcenciel’s second intervention during the operation "Grapes of Wrath" in southern Lebanon. arcenciel was commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs to manage and host displaced people while coordinating humanitarian international agencies' actions in Lebanon. In July 2006, with the "change in direction" operation, arcenciel hosted more than 1,000 displaced people in three of its centers, and provided support to 35,000 people staying in shelters.
